International Observe the Moon Night

In celebration of International Observe the Moon Night, we will have a Star Party between the hours of 8 and 11pm. Outside, in our observing field and observatory buildings, visitors will have the opportunity to see outstanding views of the Moon, Saturn, and some brighter deep space objects. We will also have our 25-foot “Giant Moon Map” from the Aldrin Foundation set-up for guests to “walk on the Moon” and to learn about Lunar Landings from our Moon-map educator. Outside activities will be “topped off” by actual Lunar communications (aka Moon-bounce) using our giant Earth-Moon-Earth radio antenna. Inside our classroom, we will offer Moon-related programming (live presentations and hands-on activities) and hopefully, a display of Apollo-themed exhibits from the Johnson Space Center (we are still waiting to hear from their collections staff.)

• This is a FREE event, but donations are very much appreciated ($5 per visitor is suggested).

• Stay for the Entire Event or As Long As You Want
• No Park Permit Required
• No Telescope Needed – You are welcome to bring your own equipment!
