DESCRIPTION:Nature at Nightfall at Platte River State Park \n(Branched Oak Observatory will be facilitating the Astronomy portion of this event). \nHave you ever wondered how astronomers read the night sky or how researchers study nocturnal animals? Or maybe you want to know what is like to have incredible night vision like an owl! \nJoin us on August 8th\, 2025 from 6-10:30PM at Platte River State Park to explore how fascinating nature can be from dusk to nightfall. SUMMARY:Nature of Nightfall Outreach at Platte Valley State Park
DESCRIPTION:The “Nature of Nightfall” event will be taking place at Platte River State Park (14421 346th St\, Louisville\, NE 68037). Between 5 and 10:30 they will be having 2 dozen naturalists at 10 different stations delivering programming for upwards of 250. Brian Sivill of Branched Oak Observatory will be presenting a general Astronomy program at 9:00PM in the Mallet Lodge Nature Center. \nIf the weather cooperates\, after the program\, Brian Sivill and Matt Anderson will take the group for a walk to tennis courts OR an adjacent open field  both about 5 minutes from Mallet Lodge\, for observing. Michael Sibbernsen will join you two after completing an earlier program in Omaha. \n  \nNote to Brian and Matt: You will probably want to arrive early enough to check out the area and set up equipment. You may want to bring your own power cord\, HDMI cords\, and any other adaptors. The program should last around 30 minutes to 45 at most. If cloudy out\, this would be the conclusion of our activities. \n  \nNote to BOO Volunteers– We could definitely use 1-3 more observation-capable astronomers to help with this. Please contact Matt or Michael if you can help out. \n
